Dr. Smith is certified in moderate sedation, and he loves that he can offer a solution for those with large treatment plans or dental anxiety. Let us know if this is a service you are interested in, and we can answer any questions you have.

1 Does Dr. Smith do sedation in his office?

Dr. Smith is certified to do moderate sedation, and he loves to do it! For certain patients and for children, we have a nurse anesthetist that we work with regularly.

2 What IV medications are used during a sedation?

The 2 used almost every time are fentanyl and midazolam (aka versed). Others that are used commonly are ketamine, dexamethasone, and ondansetron (aka zofran)

3 Could I be allergic to any of the drugs used in IV sedation?

Allergies to these drugs are extremely rare, but Dr. Smith does keep reversal and emergency drugs on hand.
